Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep disorder characterized by repeated episodes of partial or complete blockage of the upper airway during sleep, leading to breathing pauses and disruptions in sleep quality.
Causes include Obstruction of the Airway where the airway is blocked by the tongue, soft palate, or other tissues. The muscles in the throat relax, causing the airway to narrow. Also, presence of Anatomical Abnormalities like narrow airway, large tongue, or other anatomical abnormalities can contribute to OSA.
